Stone Church Lodge

Welcome to Eureka, Nevada!

In the heart of Nevada, at an elevation of 6,485' you will find the Two Bitch Spirits Ltd. headquarters located in this 1800's stone building. The town of Eureka is on the National Register of Historic Places and our building is part of the Library of Congress Historical American Buildings Survey.

A Bit of History

The first Methodist Church and Parsonage were built in 1875, but burned to the ground in 1877. Congregants built a new church only to have it burned in the town fire of April 1879. That fire burned half the town leaving over 2,000 people destitute. The third Methodist Church was dedicated on April 17, 1881. It was built with native stone and is the building still standing today. Eureka’s dwindling population caused the church to close its doors in 1900.

Through the years the building was used for revivals, weddings and other special events. By 1940, the building was converted to an auto shop named Hooper Garage.

Frank Bleuss, master woodcraftsman from San Francisco, and his wife Carol acquired the church and Parsonage house in 1984. Frank & Carol created beautiful woodwork throughout both properties including stairs, cabinetry and ornamental embellishments. Frank commissioned a local Eureka artist to create the stained glass panels mounted above the front doors.

This enduring stone building is now the headquarters of Two Bitch Spirits Ltd.  Owners Joe and Lauren Luby are renovating the building with the goal of opening it to the public as a Two Bitch™ Bourbon tasting room and community space.  The Stone Church Lodge is a newly renovated guest apartment located in the back of the building and is available for short term rental.
